As the Principal of Galileo Academy of Science & Technology, it is with great pleasure that I recommend Imhotep Akili Pease and the Advanced Placement ALLOGRAFT Program for full implementation.
Mr. Pease has worked closely with both our Biotech Pathway and Health Academy programs for the past two years. He conducted a series of lectures and labs for groups of 8-10 students where students were not only introduced to current practices of the human tissue banking industry but also had the opportunity to conduct hands on procedures in regards to: human sciatic nerve repair, corneal-scleral button procurement, and dissection of the human heart.
What makes Mr. Pease and the AP ALLOGRAFT program truly special for Galileo Academy is the fact that Mr. Pease is a graduate of Galileo and is making a concerted effort to give back to the community in which he is from. He has also made it clear that one of the objectives of the program is to increase interest in careers as surgeons, scientific researchers and biomedical engineers-especially for underrepresented groups such as females, African-Americans, and Latinos.
As an African-American male, Mr. Pease is an excellent role model for all of our students. He communicates and conducts himself in a very professional manner at all times. He is always well prepared with his lectures and labs. The equipment, supplies, and human specimens that are provided by Mr. Pease are always of the highest quality and he is very meticulous with students as to how they use the supplies and specimens.
Not only is Mr. Pease conscientious regarding the use of supplies and specimens that he supplies, but is extremely respectful of our facilities and property. He makes a point to communicate with our teachers as to what his needs are and how we might improve our programs.
Overall, Mr. Pease and the Advanced Placement ALLOGRAFT program have greatly improved our Biotech Pathway and Health Academy experience. As an English teacher, science has not always piqued my interest but I truly believe that if I had some of the hands on applications and experiences provided by programs such as ALLOGRAFT, I may have followed a different path. As the pilot site for the program it is my hope that our partnership strengthens and lasts for many many years.
Again, it is with great enthusiasm and pride that I recommend Mr. Pease and the AP ALLOGRAFT program all students and schools. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 415.749.3430.

It is with pleasure and enthusiasm that I write Imhotep Akili Pease and the AP Allograft program he has created this letter of recommendation and support. Akili has been very generous with his time and his resources in supporting my efforts as a science teacher to expose students to more rigorous and real world science curriculum.
Akili has demonstrated a sincere desire to promote science education in my inner-city high school environment. His workshops have shown my students the use of science at a level much higher than what is possible with our institution’s limited resources. The students were captivated by his instruction, the use of real tissue samples and the use of industry standard equipment. His lessons were rigorous, engaging, real world and inspiring.
Akili has consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism for science education, the classroom, the institution’s property and the instructors. Most importantly, Akili has been very respectful and supportive of the student he worked with showing patience, respect and understanding.
It is my hope to see the support and resources that Imhotep Akili Pease and the AP Allograft program supported and shared with other teachers and programs.
